Week 4 Power Rankings

Week 3 of the NFL ended last night! There was a lot of offense on display Sunday and plenty of upsets that Vegas definitely enjoyed (or set up).  Some highlights of the week include Coach McDaniels humiliating his hometown team and the Cardinals making most of America (and especially Stephen A. Smith) happy this week with a massive upset victory. Also, Brandon Staley did his thing again and tried to gift his opponents a win with a classic Staley fourth-down attempt but unfortunately for him, the Vikings hate winning more than the Chargers do as TJ Hockenson couldn't reel in the game-winning touchdown pass. Risers Biggest Riser: Houston Texans (+11) It's only been three games but the Texans look like they got their guy at QB.  Stroud has yet to throw an interception through three games and has led the Texans to 57 points over the past two games including a 20-point blowout over the AFC South favorite Jaguars on Sunday.  Despite the lack of high-level talent at WR, Stroud a...

Week 3 Power Rankings

The NFL seems to be getting crazier by the week.  The NFC East currently has more undefeated teams (3) than the entire AFC (2).  Meanwhile, the Bengals continue to look worse and now star QB Joe Burrow might miss time after re-aggravating his calf injury that cost him some of camp and all of preseason.  The Chargers stayed true to form and found a way to lose a game that on paper shouldn't have been remotely close and there was a horror scene on MNF, as star running back Nick Chubb's career is in jeopardy after a devastating knee injury last night.  Let's start by going over the biggest risers and fallers of the week, as well as other notable teams before getting into the full power rankings heading into week 3. Risers Biggest Riser: Atlanta Falcons (+15) This might be a bit of an overreaction but the Falcons look legit and benefit from playing in a weaker division.  The defense has given both the Panthers and Packers issues, and the offense is loaded with playm...

Week 2 Power Rankings

The NFL season came back with an absolute bang this year.  There were some instant classics such as the Chargers Dolphins and Jets Bills game, some extremely lopsided blowouts like the Cowboys Giants and Steelers 9ers games, and some big surprises like the Browns domination of Joe Burrow's Bengals.  The Power Rankings are fluid and reflect whats happened in the past week.  Looking ahead to the following week let's go over the biggest riser and biggest fallers, as well as some other notable teams: Risers Biggest Riser: Las Vegas Raiders (+9) Many teams moved up plenty of spots in this weeks rankings, but the Raiders topped all of those rising 9 spots after beating Sean Payton's Denver Broncos in Denver.  Jimmy G did what he did most of his career: win football games.  It wasn't pretty and they benefited from some special teams miscues from Broncos kicker Will Lutz, but the Raiders limited mistakes and confused Russell Wilson and co. in the second half Other Big R...

NFL 2023 Awards Predictions

As the NFL season kicks off, it's time to gaze into the crystal ball and make predictions for the major awards that will be handed out at the end of the year. From Offensive Rookie of the Year to Most Valuable Player, we've got our top contenders lined up and a few thoughts on each. Offensive Rookie of the Year: Anthony Richardson, QB, Indianapolis Colts Our top pick for Offensive Rookie of the Year is Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts. Unlike the MVP, quarterbacks haven't historically dominated this award but we believe that might change this season. Richardson, a phenomenal athlete, could shift the conversation toward what he can achieve with an elite supporting cast, even if the Colts aren't competitive like last year. Anthony Richardson, often compared to the likes of Cam Newton due to his impressive size, speed, and arm strength, brings an exciting dynamic to the Colts' offense. He's set to benefit from an upgraded offensive line and a talented g...

Intro + Week 1 Power Rankings

Football is finally back and coming with it this year is our newest blog, The Touchdown Times .  We'll be posting at least once a week during football season, posting weekly power rankings, and discussing NFL trends.  Let's begin with our Week 1 Power Rankings with a brief explanation of some of the teams. Super Bowl Contenders (1-6) Philadelphia Eagles : The Eagles kick off the season as the top team in our power rankings. Despite losing some players (Miles Saunders, CGJ), the Eagles brought back all of their offensive core and added some key defensive players in the draft (Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith specifically) making them the team to beat this year.  D'andre Swift is a breakout candidate, as he is an upgrade over Miles Sanders and creates a deadly threat on read options with Jalen Hurts. Cincinnati Bengals : The Bengals take the two spot in the power rankings as they brought back all of their offensive core and addressed part of their weakness by signing elite...
